Ok yeah, I think it’s safe to say I travel a little bit. I mean, I’m not jet setting to a new place every week but I am out of the country at least twice a year. Plus my passport is starting to really fill up with stamps. Even as I write this post, I’m sitting on an airplane on my way to Tokyo.
I’ve been asked a lot lately about some tips, ideas or gadgets I like to take to help ease the pain of traveling. Let’s face it, the destination is always fun but getting there is Chinese water torture. I decided to make a series of posts about it. To kick things off, here are my top 5 gadgets for traveling.
5. Tumi Alpha 2 Business Compact Laptop Brief Pack
I”ve come to realize that I’m a sucker for geeky luggage. Tumi has always been a dope brand and their quality/warranty is one of the best. This has become my official travel/DJ bag. I endorse this HARD! The bag comes with really cool compartments and pockets. It’s very spacious and kinda light weight. What turned this from a want to a need is the TSA approval.
One of the most move inconvenient parts of traveling involves the TSA line. If you’re not TSA Approved, then you have to empty your pockets, take off your shoes and remove your laptop for the X-ray machine. This is a total hassle when you have a bunch of impatient travelers behind you trying to make their flight. This bag is cleared by the TSA so you don’t need to remove jack squat. You can simply leave it on the conveyer belt and keep walking. Here’s the link to the bag on Amazon.
4. 3-Outlet Mini Travel Swivel Charger Surge Protector with Dual USB Ports
It’s 2016 and as more airports/hotel rooms realize that people need to charge their sh*t this little doodad comes in very handy. It’s saved my life too many times to count. It swivels, it has 3 prongs and it has USB ports. It does it all! When you’re in a jam and you need to plug multiple devices for a charge before a long flight, you will realize how incredibly useful this little gadget is. Buy it and talk me later. It’s currently on Amazon for less than $15 bucks. Cop it!
3, HooToo TripMate Elite
What is it? Well… on the surface it appears to be an portable charger but it does so much more! It has prongs so you can just plug it into the wall for charging (instead of finding a USB plug and adaptor). It has multiple usb plugs for charging your devices. Best of all (and this is my main reason for loving this gadget) you can use it as a wireless router.
Wait, what’s the point of having one of these? Well, it’s really quite simple my friend. Let me give you a real life scenario. You’re at an airport or in a hotel room and you need to access some wifi. The cost is $19+ per device. Well, this amazing piece of machinery turns 1 wifi connection into many. Just purchase 1 wifi connection, turn this device on, and link all of you and your friends gadgets to it.
This saves so much money and your friends will think your a god because you gave them wifi. Get it on Amazon for less than $40 buckaroos.
2. Apple Macbook Air
This is a semi recent purchase and a personal fav. I won’t go too in depth with this gadget because we all know what it is. However my main reason for loving it is the battery life. 8 to 9 hours on a full charge. Need I say more?
1. Aukey Quick Charge 2.0
A battery charger as number 1? WTF! Yea, I know, it’s a little out of the ordinary. You were probably expecting a super charge Jameson flask dispenser. Unfortunately, that hasn’t been invented yet so this is all I got. J/K.
Let’s be real for a minute. I purchased this a few weeks ago and it’s been a massive tool in my kit. What makes this charger so important you ask? Unlike most battery packs on the market, this is a quick charge. Meaning it cuts the time to charge your devices by more than half and keeps a charge for full refills of up to 3 devices. Bro, totally worth it! Trust!
Well, that’s my top 5 for now. Love it or hate it or recommend some other cool gadget I can purchase on Amazon. I’d love to hear from you!
Until next time, it goes down in the DM!
